- fact: most people don't do enough exercise.
- fact: most people know they don't do enough exercise.
- fact: most advice given is either dictorial or so long and boring, it's not suprising that people don't do enough exercise.
I've worked in the fitness industry for over 8 years during which time I have worked as a gym instructor, exercise referral specialist, group exercise instructor, gym manager and personal trainer. Recently started working in cardiac rehab which is hugely rewarding and existing provision in North Yorkshire is virtually non-existent.
I specialise in working on a one to one basis with clients who need a bit of extra help to get more active due to medical conditions. Work mainly in client's homes and gyms in York and Easingwold. Looking to start offering some group exercise sessions soon though so watch this space.
Part of my work involves helping people find activites that they enjoy doing (and making sure they're not going to injure themselves in the process) and basically making exercise fun and accessible.
I'm a big fan of Acceleration Training - you might have heard of Powerplate; Kylie, Madonna and Victoria Beckham are all advocates of it. Powerplate is basically a vibrating platform that you perform different exercises on. I don't believe it's a substitute for other types of resistance training but it does get people training on it that wouldn't dream of using other types of strength training. It's great for clients with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and it does get spectacular results.
